Special handling codes for pharma shipment bookings

Finnair Cargo would like to remind you about the importance of correct bookings. It is important for all shipments but crucial for temperature-sensitive Pharma shipments (PIL) to ensure all automated processes in our Helsinki COOL terminal go on smoothly without interruptions and stops for manual corrections. Without correct codes Finnair cannot ensure that shipment handling is performed in accordance with predefined Pharma Process, including appropriate storage and timeframes.

Code PIL is mandatory for temperature-sensitive pharma shipments. Without it a shipment will not be handled as special cargo. The code PIL must always be used in conjunction with one and only one of the codes indicating the correct transport temperature:

•    CRT (Controlled Room Temperature) for shipments with transport temperature range of +15 C to +25 C
•    ERT (Extended Room Temperature) for shipments with transport temperature range of +2 C to +25 C
•    COL (cool storage) for shipments with transport temperature range of +2 C to +8 C
•    FRO (freezer storage) for shipments with transport temperature range of -10 C or below

Finnair's unique PHA code indicates pharma shipments with no temperature-sensitive contents and it must not be used together with any temperature codes.
