The COOL Nordic Cargo Hub
Finnair Cargo’s new terminal at Helsinki Airport is named the COOL Nordic Cargo Hub because of its advanced temperature-control technology and modern sophistication. The 80M-euro cargo terminal was opened for full operations at the start of 2018 and ever since has been handling record volumes as demand for Finnair Cargo has continued to rise.
COOL is the best example in Europe of how robotics and intelligent warehouse automation can target and improve efficiency in air freight. The COOL hub provides the levels of automation required to meet the demands of a paperless, more efficient digital future and is designed for the expansion of the A350 fleet that will double long-haul cargo capacity by 2020.
Swissport International AG, on behalf of more than 850 client-companies, provides best-in-class airport ground services for some 282 million passengers annually and handles approximately 4.8 million tons of air cargo at 122 warehouses worldwide. With a workforce of some 66,000, the world’s leading provider of ground and air cargo services is active at more than 300 airports in 50 countries on six continents. In 2017 the Group generated a consolidated operating revenue of EUR 2.8 billion.
